550 Paracord  Projects

While the military has serious and professional uses for paracord 550 rope, our 550 paracord projects can introduce you to different and innovative uses for your rope.  We have all been there, sometimes you have a little bit of rope left over and you just don't want to throw it away.  I know that is the way I am!  With these 550 paracord projects, you can put that last bit of rope to use!

 550 Paracord Projects #1: Bracelet

In this 550 Paracord projects video, Tim makes a nifty little bracelet out of spare paracord.  These bracelets are very durable and as you can see from the picture it is very attractive looking!  Here are the directions for the first of our 550 paracord projects:

You will need ten feet of paracord, a lighter, a release buckle and a measuring tape and scissors or a knife.  Make sure the scissors or knife is sharp for safety sake!  Next, take a length of paracord, wrap it around your wrist and measure how big around your wrist.  I advise leaving an additional inch for comfort.  Next, take your cord, meet the ends up, and thread it through the first side of the buckle.  This will provide the anchor point for your bracelet.  Make sure you run the cord through itself to make a noose that hooks over the buckle.

Now, unhook the male part of the buckle, slide it down the cord to match the length of your wrist that you just measure.  Remember to add an inch to the length! Now to attach the end of your bracelet, you need to make a cobra or Solomon knot.  You have both the cords running through the buckle, take the right end and cross it under both cords.  Then do the same to the other side.  You will then just pull the sides tight, like you are tying the first part of a shoelace, before the bows.  Remember you can google for pictures if you need help with this 550 paracord projects.

At this point, just keep tying that same knot until you fill the space between the buckles.  This will make a nice, soft comfortable bracelet for you to wear!  Now, you can use this same principle to make a necklace, a very sturdy strap or a dog collar.  Just make sure the dog collar is short enough the dog cant chew on it!  This will be the first of out 550 paracord projects!

550 Paracord Projects #2: Lanyard

In case you don’t know what a lanyard is, its a fancy term for a keychain!  I had to google it at first, I won't lie to you!  This second of our 550 paracord projects has a lot in common with the bracelet.  Instead of using a buckle, you will use a metal U-ring keychain end and a metal ring on the other side.  The knots are basically the same, just keep tying the Solomon knot to fill the space.  I would suggest not making your lanyard overly long, as it has a tendency to get caught in objects, like car doors and childrens mouths!!

I hope this has given you some ideas of what you can use paracord for, if you have some left over after a project!
